Dyche hails ‘biggest’ feat as Everton seal survival

Sean Dyche claims that his “greatest” managerial accomplishment to date is guiding Everton to Premier League safety with three games remaining.

With their 1-0 victory over Brentford at Goodison Park on Saturday, Everton moved up to 15th place, 11 points above the bottom three.

Despite the team receiving a total of eight points this season for breaking Premier League financial regulations, their place in the top division has been guaranteed.

“We have not had an easy ride, and I am extremely proud,” Dyche declared. The rejections are still coming in my direction as well; this job is not what I was pitched or what has transpired.

“I am happy with it and the way we handled it, to refocus on the new job at hand.”

Everton’s Idrissa Gueye scored the game-winning goal, and following the blow of the final whistle, Dyche walked onto the field and cheered from every angle of the stadium.

After losing 6-0 at Chelsea on April 15, the Blues had triumphed three games in a row, all with clean sheets, including a 2-0 victory against Liverpool, their bitter rivals on Merseyside.

Despite staying up, Everton’s future off the pitch remains in question as a protracted takeover by Miami-based investment firm 777 Partners has still not been completed.

“It is fair to say that if we keep the regular behaviors, it will pay you back, and it has done,” Dyche stated, referring to the players’ evolving mindset.

“We haven’t been as consistent as we were earlier in the season, but we still found success and earned it.”

Before being fired in April 2022, Dyche managed Burnley for over ten years, leading the team to two promotions to the Premier League.

When asked where keeping Everton up again rates in his career accomplishments, the 52-year-old responded that he led them to safety on the last day of the previous campaign.

“It’s definitely my biggest one,” Dyche retorted, leading a group “from where it was [to] where it is.”

“Last season was different, but this season has been really difficult at times to cut through the emotion and loudness.

“I took a few hits myself, but maintaining focus on the task at hand is a necessary element of my job.

“Everton, the Premier League’s whipping boys, has turned into an easy story. What’s easy? Everton. Let’s deal with them. We are starting to alter it now.

“Leave the negativity and tale to someone else.”
