Just In: Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice gets emotional after ‘shocking incidence’ with Neighbors ahead of Super Bowl 2024

Players on the Kansas City Chiefs are getting ready for their journey to Las Vegas, the location of the big game, with the Super Bowl officially just one week away. One of the main reasons the Chiefs are returning to the Super Bowl for a second straight season and their fourth trip in five years is rookie wide receiver Rashee Rice, who made waves early in the season. When Rice was being driven to the airport by his car, Kansas City supporters flocked the streets in support of their new favorite wideout.

Before joining the Kansas City Chiefs, Rice, a second-round selection in the NFL draft of the previous season, was a star player for the Houston Cougars. The six-foot-two speedster made a splash in his rookie game, scoring a touchdown in the season opener against the Detroit Lions. Over the next nine games, though, he played a more erratic role and failed to surpass 50 yards receiving five times. The beginning of an exceptional relationship between himself and two-time MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes occurred when Rice caught eight catches for 107 yards and one touchdown in a victory against the Las Vegas Raiders in late November.

In all but one of his final six regular-season games, Rice had at least six receptions, hauling in 43 passes. On those 43 receptions, he gained 518 yards and three touchdowns. The Houston product has contributed significantly to his team’s postseason success aside from their victory against the Buffalo Bills in the second round. This playoff, he has 20 receptions for 223 yards and a touchdown. In the Super Bowl, he will go up against a formidable San Francisco 49ers.
