Quarterbacky?: Steelers Missing Piece Could Kill Hope
According to one analyst, the Pittsburgh Steelers are without a quarterback.
Pittsburgh Before they go on the field in the spring, the Pittsburgh Steelers hope to find competition for Kenny Pickett and improve their quarterback play this season. Mason Rudolph is their best option, but he might not be the greatest; according to an ESPN analyst, they need to step it up if they want to win playoff games.
The Steelers need to upgrade at quarterback this offseason; settling for Pickett or Rudolph won’t be good enough to snap their playoff win drought, according to ESPN’s Marcus Spears during NFL Live.
Are you feeling like a quarterback, Mr. Rooney? Spears remarked that you need that to move forward with these things. Make no accusations. Mason Rudolph performed admirably for them in the closing minutes. Given his youth, Kenny Pickett may be someone you want to stick with. If you don’t solve it, I feel like you’ll be impatient again next offseason. I don’t think you have a quarterback on the roster that’s going to get you where you’re talking about going, Rooney.
Both head coach Mike Tomlin and Steelers president Art Rooney II have expressed their desire for Rudolph to rejoin the team as a possible starter. It’s unclear which way they’ll go to compete with Pickett if he doesn’t.
While others have proposed names like Sam Darnold and Jacoby Brissett, there’s a notion that Ryan Tannehill might join the team if Arthur Smith is hired to be the offensive coordinator.
They’ll attempt to make do for the time being with what they have, but not everyone thinks it will be sufficient.
