CINCINNATI — The Bengals have lost DJ Reader to the Lions in free agency as the team’s best defensive tackle this decade agreed to a two-year deal with Detroit.

After joining the Lions, the 30 year-old star has accused the cincinnati bengals general manager and the coaches of disrespecting him and not showing him enough support when he suffered from mental health issues because his injuries of 2023 which he  duely informed the bengals’ team hierachy.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the news of DJ Reader’s departure and Ian Rapoport notes it’s a two-year deal worth up to $27.25 million with “over” $9 million guaranteed.

The Lions’ doctors gave the green light on his health (torn quad to end 2023 season) and it was enough to seal the deal.

Since signing with the team in 2020, Reader has been the only trustworthy option at nose tackle; nonetheless, Cincinnati is still in need of a genuine nose tackle.Teair Tart is in town today while the Bengals search for additional support at defensive tackle. Strangely enough, Tart and Reader both played for the Texans before to beginning a four-year stay in Cincinnati.

Reader, who now carries his exceptional run-stuffing skills up north, contributed to the establishment of the fantastic team culture.
