Update on Deebo Samuel’s injuries as the 49ers of San Francisco worry about the wide receiver’s health before the NFC championship game
During the first half of his team’s Divisional Round victory over the Green Bay Packers on Saturday, the 49ers’ playmaker was forced off the field.
Wide receiver Deebo Samuel of the San Francisco 49ers has stated that he did not sustain a broken shoulder during their play-off victory over the Green Bay Packers on Saturday in the Divisional Round.
The Niners will have to wait nervously to find out if the playmaker is healthy enough to participate in Sunday night’s NFC Championship game against the Detroit Lions.
After hauling in two receptions for 24 yards, Samuel was pulled out of the close 24-21 victory over the Packers in the first half due to a shoulder injury. Earlier in the season, the 28-year-old missed two games due to a shoulder issue; the Niners lost both games.
In an update on the wideout’s injuries, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan stated that the team should know more about his availability before this weekend’s game on Wednesday.
Shanahan remarked, “That was a really good sign that it wasn’t broken.” However, the pain is still too great for us to predict how it will subside this week. We simply need to wait and see how he feels on Wednesday. We’ll determine whether or not he gets a chance to play in the game based on how well it’s progressing.
From a game-planning perspective, it’s easier if we know he’s unavailable, according to Shanahan. However, if there’s a chance—which I believe we’ll have a better understanding of on Wednesday—then certainly the game plan will include provisions for him.
On Sunday night, the 49ers will play the Lions at Levi’s Stadium. The winners of the game will advance to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas to face the winners of the AFC Championship game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens.
