Six weeks after Carlos Corberan guided Huddersfield Town to the Championship play-off final, the club has revealed that the Spaniard has left.
“We have accepted Carlos’ departure with sadness,” stated Leigh Bromby, head of football operations for the Terriers.
“He undoubtedly contributed significantly to the incredible season of 2021–2022, but in the past 24 hours, he has reached out to us and expressed his belief that someone else is better suited to lead the team going forward.
“The timing is unfortunate, as we have already begun planning for the upcoming season.” But over the past few years, we have put a lot of effort into creating a coaching and support system around the First Team, which provides us with continuity and stability in the face of change. Additionally, we have succession plans in place for any scenario.”

Danny Schofield, the first team coach, was swiftly elevated to the position of head coach by the organization.
Bromby continued, “Danny Schofield will now take the reins as team leader.” As the most knowledgeable person about the club, its players, coaching philosophy, and organizational structure, he is in a perfect position to provide us with continuity.
Danny, who is well-liked and respected in the football community, declined a chance to take over as head coach of a team in the top tier of a European league this summer because he is a strong believer in what we’re doing here. Because of his exceptional efforts at our club, he has earned this opportunity.
Danny will collaborate with our outstanding team, which includes Narcis Pèlach, in order to be ready for our opening match on July 29 against Burnley.
“Carlos, I want to thank you for all of your hard work at the club. Over the past two years, I’ve truly enjoyed working directly with him, and I want the best for him going forward.
Less than a day has passed since Town accomplished the double capture of free agent Connor Mahoney and Milton Keynes Dons midfielder David Kasumu. The Daily Mail reports that Corberan has received attention from a rival team.
It has been nearly two years since Corberan was named head coach of the Terriers. In the 2020–21 season, Town came dangerously close to relegation, placing 20th in the standings and just six points clear of the drop zone.
However, Corberan turned around the Terriers’ season last year and got them close to promotion. Town was led by Corberan to a third-place result and the play-off final at Wembley, where Nottingham Forest defeated them 1-0.
