JAMAL MOHAMMED AND OLLIE BOSTOCK AGREE ON A PROFESSIONAL DEAL

With the club, young talents Ollie Bostock and Jamal Mohammed have made a significant career move by agreeing to professional contracts.

This Thursday, the two candidates for the academy signed two-and-a-half-year contracts that will keep them at The Hawthorns until June 2026.

Bostock, a Wales U17 international who showed great promise in the 2023–24 campaign and broke into Richard Beale’s U21 squad as a first-year scholar, is embarking on an exciting new phase.

Since the six-year-old London native joined Albion’s youth setup, many have been watching him for potential.

Ollie played a more advanced role in Leigh Downing’s U18s team for half of his U16 season before he was even recognized as a scholar.

This season, the club’s PL2 squad has continued that theme. The attacker, who can play all forward positions, will now be able to write his professional terms down and use the good news to go closer to his goal of making the first team in B71.

Mohammed’s injury suffered during the Baggies’ Premier League 2 encounter against Sunderland early in the season has made it a frustrating year for him.

However, Jamal is back playing on the turf, and the team has offered the center-back a professional contract, indicating their confidence in his ability.

The strong defender, who is 6 feet 5 inches tall, came to Albion from Peterborough when he was 15 years old, having lived in Cambridgeshire for over two years.

Mohammed, 18, who was born in the nation’s capital, made an impression when Carlos Corberán gave him chances in the 23/24 preseason games this season.

Richard Stevens, the academy manager, thinks that Ollie and Jamal staying at The Hawthorns is a strong statement of purpose since they both provide a good example for upcoming younger players.

Stevens stated, “It’s well-deserved for Jamal and Ollie.” “Each has a unique story about how they applied to the academy and how their first two seasons went.

“Jamal played for the U21s as an under-17, excelled as a first-year scholar, and then sustained a frustrating injury back in September.

“We felt he had a lot of promise and wanted to get him back on the field after seeing enough of him in his first season.

Since Ollie has been here since elementary school, these are significant anecdotes for a football academy. I was here prior to the academy, having completed the foundation stage, and I’m thrilled that Ollie has dedicated himself to us, kept growing, and is now reaping the benefits of his perseverance.

It’s a demanding field, and as a team, we must put in a lot of effort to foster an atmosphere that gives our young players opportunities.

Tom Fellows is a prime illustration of that. He has spent a lot of time here, had to take risks when they presented themselves, and found things to be difficult at times.

However, what’s happening right now is that all of that effort and hard work is starting to pay off. He is this academy’s bright spot.

“We will keep working hard with Jamal and Ollie and provide them opportunities to grow into men who can achieve their goals at the Albion. They are also role models for the younger players at this football club.”
