According to reports, Lazar Samardzic, a 22-year-old Serbian midfielder of German descent, will be targeted by West Ham United during the summer transfer window from Serie A club Udinese.

A report from the Italian publication Calciomercato claims that West Ham United are interested in Lazar Samardzic. As the summer transfer window opens, the Hammers are looking to add a midfield player. Udinese, a Serie A team, will demand more than €30 million to let go of the midfielder, who was born in Germany.Lazar Samardzic and his Travels through Udinese

After being born in Berlin, Lazar Samardzic was raised in Germany. Before graduating from Hertha BSC’s youth level, he went through the academies at FK Hercegovac, Blau-Weiß Spandau, and Schwarz-Weiß Neukölln. Though he represented his natal country in age-group football, the German-born midfielder decided to play for Serbia internationally.

In the meantime, the 22-year-old’s career with Udinese has seen him gain notoriety. Over the past three years, the young player has distinguished himself as one of the top young midfielders in Serie A. Samardzic has participated in 25 games so far in all competitions during the 2023–24 campaign, which has been respectable; however, his participation has decreased recently.

The Serbian international has been the subject of increasing speculation in recent weeks, raising the possibility of a summer transfer. He and Barcelona have been connected in recent rumors. However, a move to the Premier League may be imminent, as Juventus is also interested in the young player. Udinese will demand more than €30 million in order to break up with him.

Samardzic is wanted by West HamPrior to a deal falling through, West Ham United also contemplated signing Lazar Samardzic during the summer transfer window. It makes sense that there is still interest in the midfielder, who was born in Germany. Although the East London team signed Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse last summer, it is unlikely that they will finalize a permanent deal for Kalvin Phillips.

Rather than finalizing a permanent move for Phillips, the Hammers are thinking about making a move for Mandela Keita. But West Ham could possibly consider Samardzic as a target. Furthermore, they are able to pay him at least €30 million to retain his services.

But, given that Juventus will probably offer him a spot in the UEFA Champions League, their rivalry could be the final straw for West Ham. Thus, it will be intriguing to watch if a transfer to West Ham materializes.
