David Moyes is now desperately seeking January transfer signings as West Ham face a mounting injury crisis in attack in recent weeks, according to The Standard.
The publication stated on January 10 that the Hammers were compelled to look to the market due to injuries sustained by Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta in the FA Cup draw with Bristol City, as well as Michail Antonio’s troubles.
With Danny Ings and Said Benrahma still available for purchase, Moyes will be without his first-choice attack for a month or more. Mohammed Kudus is away at the African Cup of Nations, so he will need reinforcements.
Reinforcements are needed ASAP
The timing of West Ham’s injuries is both unfortunate and fortunate. Although it’s never ideal to be without all three of your first-choice attackers, the Hammers will have the chance to bolster their lineup during the January transfer window.
Had the situation started in February instead of just one month later, they would have been left without injured players and no ready substitutes.
The East London club is still eager to sell depth players like Benrahma, Ings, and Fornals, so there is an increasing desperation to get new players over the finish line, even though no deals have closed as of yet.
.
The transfer window isn’t even two weeks old, and already things at West Ham are starting to get tight. As the deadline draws nearer, it’s possible that the supporting cast will stay because their employers can’t afford to let them go during a crisis.
In unrelated West Ham developments, Tim Steidten, David Sullivan, and David Moyes are looking anywhere for January additions.
