Reese announced the news on social media last Saturday

A crucial player will be absent from the Chicago Sky’s postseason run.

Due to a wrist injury, standout rookie power forward Angel Reese stated on social media on Saturday that she will miss the remainder of the season.

“What a year it has been. I never would have thought my rookie season’s final bucket would be a 3, but perhaps that was God telling me to give them a taste of what they can expect to see more of in Year 2,” Reese wrote. “Throughout it all, even when nobody else did, I proved that I belonged in this league. My only goal in life has been to enter the W and have an influence.

“I’m certain that I’ve accomplished that, and I’ll work to do so going forward. My season-ending injury has me feeling a range of emotions right now, but I’m also really grateful for what lies ahead. I am finally able to give myself a mental and physical rest, even though this is God’s timing and not mine.”

Reese stated that she will continue to support from the sidelines and that she hopes to visit the new Unrivalled league soon.

With six games remaining in the regular season, the Sky are presently ranked eighth in the playoff race. The Washington Mystics, Dallas Wings, and Atlanta Dream are currently being discussed. There are three meetings left for Chicago that will decide the outcome.

By the end of her freshman year, Reese will have averaged 13.6 points on 39.1% shooting, 1.9 assists, 1.3 steals, and 13.1 rebounds (8.1 defensive).

In addition, she set records for the most straight double-doubles, the greatest average of rebounds per game in a single campaign, and the most rebounds in a WNBA season.

With Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark also in the running for Rookie of the Year after helping her team secure a postseason berth after a 1-8 start, the LSU product is also anticipated to be a strong contender.
