Ohio State is actively seeking new recruits once more. Another quarterback prospect rated five stars has been offered by the Buckeyes. What does this signify going forward for the QB room?
Before beginning spring practice At quarterback, Ohio State is well-stocked. They added Kansas State veteran Will Howard, who has made almost thirty starts.
Both Lincoln Kienholz and Devin Brown, two quarterbacks with a strong background, are back from the previous team. In addition to those three players, they have added five-star Julian Sayin (who transferred from Alabama) and Air Noland, a Top-60 recruit, as true freshmen to their 2024 recruiting class.
Although Will Howard seems to be Ohio State’s obvious choice to start in the fall, the team already has a number of potential future players on campus. Yet Ohio State’s head coach, Ryan Day, and his forward-thinking decision to offer five-star quarterback Brady Smigiel (Newbury Park High School, Class of 2026) didn’t let that stop them.
For more than a year, this young man has been regarded as one of the top two or three quarterbacks in the 2026 recruiting class. In his debut high school season, Smigiel dominated elite competition, finishing with 51 touchdowns overall and completing 66% of his throws. He subsequently built on that performance by throwing for over 4200 yards and 53 touchdowns in just 14 games as a sophomore.
There are currently 28 FBS college football scholarship offers for the young superstar-in-the-making, and they are coming in quickly.
Although Ryan Day has shown in recent years that he doesn’t exactly struggle when it comes to bringing in the best quarterbacks in the country, the Buckeyes will have their work cut out for them if they want to get this rising talent.
Surprisingly, Smigiel received offers from Michigan, Oregon, and Georgia about a year ahead of the Buckeyes, but, as of right now, there are no obvious front-runners in Smigiel’s recruiting process.
