A small-town police chief from Ohio was detained in Florida last week on suspicion of assaulting a homeless man.

Early on Friday morning, 40-year-old Boston Heights Police Chief Chad McArdle was charged with misdemeanor-level violence. In Key West, police officers took him into custody.

A cab driver reported that a man without a shirt was knocking on his door at around one in the morning to the police, according to an arrest report that Fox News Digital was able to get.

Before collapsing into the pavement in tears, the guy, later identified as McArdle, informed the driver that he had been stabbed and that people intended to kill him.

When Key West police finally got there, they discovered McArdle, who seemed anxious and lost.

He told police that two individuals had forced and dragged him into a car and stabbed him, but the police were unable to detect any stabbing wounds on him.

“Mcardle [sic] was unable to identify the person who stabbed him or the kind of stick… According to the police report, “[he] claimed that he was able to take the stick from the man and stab him in the throat; Mcardle [sic] said that the man was probably dead now.”

Police from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office observed that McArdle had no blood on his hands and thought he was providing inconsistent information.

Afterwards, a homeless man was discovered by the officers lying on the alley’s floor. The man claimed to have been attacked.

The arrest report stated, “[The victim] said he was standing in the alley, and the unknown male kicked him in the back.” “[The victim] claimed that after he hit the ground, a male stranger repeatedly kicked him in the back.”

Afterwards, the destitute guy admitted to the police that he knew McArdle was the one who had kicked him.

In the alley were also McArdle’s shoes.

Police stated, “It should be noted that no evidence that could support Mcardle’s [sic] statements was found during the investigation.”

Fox News Digital requested a statement from the Village of Boston Heights but has not received a response.
