A wide receiver was taken into custody on Tuesday morning after police purportedly stopped his car and discovered a gun and marijuana inside. The Philadelphia Eagles said that Huff was free on Thursday morning.
According to Trang Do of CBS Philly, Huff was stopped for speeding over the Walt Whitman Bridge.
A statement regarding Huff’s apprehension from the Delaware River Port Authority was given by Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com:
Mr. Josh Huff was stopped for exceeding the speed restrictions at around 11 a.m. while traveling from Philadelphia to New Jersey on the WWB (NJ side). Following the traffic stop, Mr. Huff received the following: New Jersey traffic citations for speeding, DUI, and dark-tinted windows obstructing vision. two warrants (unlawful possession of a weapon and restricted weapons and devices for hollow point bullets) and a criminal summons for marijuana under 50 grams.
“On a private basis, Josh Huff and I discussed his incident,” Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said to the media on Wednesday. “At this moment, we have no control over it. Right now, it’s a legal matter.”
Huff apologized for being a distraction to them, especially at this time, in her message on Tuesday, according to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News. “We don’t need it.”
Huff said on Wednesday, “I can’t get into that,” in response to a question about why he required hollow-point bullets, according to Martin Frank of the Delaware News Journal. Without a doubt, it’s for protection.”
According to Nick Fierro of the Morning Call, Huff connected his professional athletic position to the requirement to possess a firearm: “I’m a professional athlete. Which professional athlete is not carrying a firearm?
Huff said, “I’m from Houston,” according to Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “Many individuals in Houston are untrustworthy. Someone is continuously trying to harm you.”

“We are aware of Josh Huff’s incident from today. As Dave Zangaro of CSN Philly reports, the Eagles released a statement saying, “At this point, we are gathering more information.”
Huff was selected in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Oregon. In 2016, he caught 13 passes for 72 yards and one score.
As of right now, no additional information on the case is available.
Since the NFL forbids the use of marijuana, Huff might be included in its drug policy.
