The Los Angeles Rams head coach, Sean McVay, signs in new players ahead of their upcoming….

With a tremendous drive towards the end of the 2023 NFL season, the Los Angeles Rams went from being a potential Top-5 choice in the 2024 NFL Draft to the sixth seed in the NFC division of the 2024 NFL Playoffs. Many teams would have been proud of that kind of finish, and rightfully so. However, the Rams’ roster for the upcoming campaign is far from set in stone. The future starters for the team might perhaps be less definite now than they were a year ago.

That isn’t because the squad has a weak roster. Instead, the team will have to contend with a whole new set of difficulties as they will have 11 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft, four of whom will be in the Top 100. They will also have a more flexible salary cap to work with. To put it briefly, the team has a lot more options, which may be advantageous if well-considered judgments are made. Alternatively, the decisions may have the unintended consequence of either missing out on acquiring a new NFL star or adding a player to the roster who is not well matched.

Although several teams are considering the same thing due to the abundance of quarterback prospects in the selection, the Rams may consider the acquisition of a long-term backup for quarterback Matthew Stafford to be a top priority in the 2024 NFL selection. In fact, an increasing number of NFL mock drafts include a rush on quarterbacks early in Round 1 as the real draft gets closer.

The expected run on rookie pitchers may prove to be a gift in disguise for the Rams if they do not consider the backup quarterback position to be essential for a Day 1 selection. The offensive line and defensive backs are two positions that the Rams might try to improve in the draft. Although a complete evaluation of the caliber and depth of positional groupings for the 2024 NFL Draft is still pending, preliminary findings suggest that the offensive center and cornerback positions are especially strong and deep this year.

That’s fantastic for the offensive line up front, but what about the offensive tackles? Isn’t the positional group in this year’s draft expected to be talented and deep? Why, yet, they are

The Rams, who signed four defensive linemen following the 2020 NFL Draft, two of whom were still with the organization at the end of the 2023 NFL season, have shown themselves to be adept at hoarding talent when it’s available.

Expect the Rams to spend extensively in the summer on offensive linemen, defensive backs, and maybe even one or two additional quarterbacks, depending on how the team spends the early picks. After all, 2024 will be a stacked NFL Draft, and general manager Les Snead loves to load up on deals.
